Dear Friends and Neighbors,

I’m delighted to announce that the Oregonian has endorsed me for the general election!

About my race, the Editorial Board of the Oregonian said:

“Farther east in District 52, which takes in Sandy and Hood River, voters face a stark choice between a soft-spoken grandmother and a young mixed martial arts fighter. If statehouse politics were hand-to-hand combat, we’d support Republican Matt Lindland, but until that day, we urge voters to send Democrat Suzanne VanOrman to Salem to fill the seat being vacated by Patti Smith, a Republican who is retiring from the House.

VanOrman ran the Mid-Columbia Children’s Council as executive director for 22 years, expanding Head Start services throughout the council’s territory. That’s experience that will serve her well in Salem.”

I’m glad the Oregonian recognizes my fight for Oregon’s children and families and have chosen to endorse me in this race.

Sincerely,

Suzanne

Pictures with friends

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

I just wanted to share some photos I recently found of me on the campaign trail with some friends of mine.

Here I am with Governor Barbara Roberts. She has been such a wonderful supporter of mine. Here we are at the Multnomah County Democrats meeting in July.

At that same picnic I was able to spend some time with KC Hanson and some of my fellow candidates, including Laurie Monnes Anderson and two spectacular candidates in neighboring districts, Nick Kahl and Greg Matthews.

I want to thank all of them for their support and wish them all the best in their races.

Sincerely,

Suzanne

SEIU and John Kroger

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

This last Saturday I was honored to have local SEIU members and Presumptive Attorney General John Kroger come out in Hood River to canvass for me. The morning started with a meet and greet at Jackson Park and after helping ourselves to coffee, bagels, and fruits, we all made our way out to the voters of Hood River.

When all was said and done, we drank 30 cups of coffee, ate 15 bagels, 5 banannas, and 10 apples. We also knocked on over 450 doors, making contact with 214 Hood River voters.

It was a great day of canvassing. I want to thank the SEIU members, and John Kroger both of whom braved the wind to come out in support of my campaign.

As we get closer to ballots dropping, we will continue to be incredibly active at the door and on the phone. If you would like to help us, please get in touch with Logan for a schedule of upcoming events.

Sincerely,

Suzanne

The Bus Strikes Again

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

This weekend the wonderful folks from the Bus Project came out to canvass for me in Hood River and Sandy! The afternoon was kicked off by my friends, Representatives Mary Nolan and Tina Kotek, who sent over 50 volunteers  to knock on over 2,500 doors in 6 precincts. The Oregon Trail Democrats came out in force to show their support as well.

After the canvass we all gathered back at Meinig park to share stories, eat some incredible BBQ and Pie and enjoy each others company.

From the very beginning, this campaign has been powered by kind volunteers and contributors, and that won’t change from now until Nov. 4th.

I’d like to thank the Bus Project and all the volunteers who came out to walk for me.

Sincerely,

Suzanne

New Office in Sandy

Hello Friends,

I am happy to announce that we have just opened a new office in Sandy!

We are located in the Frontier Building, 39120 Proctor Blvd. on the second floor. I will be staffing the office along with our new field director Brian Goss. The Hood River office is now being staffed by our second field Director, Prentice Small who comes to us all the way from West Virginia.

We are extremely excited to have a permanent presence on both sides of the mountain and will be working overtime over the next 79 days to help Suzanne get her message out to as many voters as possible.

If you’d like to stop by and say hello or perhaps donate an office chair or two, please contact me at 503-901-4534 or at logan@votevanorman.com. I hope to see you soon!

Best,

Logan

Saturday’s Canvasses

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

Saturday was an incredible day for my campaign as we had two canvasses in support of my candidacy. The first was a horseback canvass in Corbett, which was organized by my friends Mary Blankevoort, Dale Siefert, and John and Julie Christensen. It was incredible to see folks coming out with their horses to canvass for the candidates they believe in, and I’m honored that they included me in this truly special event.

The event turned out roughly 30 people including the 10 riders who went door to door. And while many of the people who were there, I have known for a while, I also met some new folks. I have more pictures up here, if you’d like to take a look.

From Corbett, we moved on to Sandy where we had 10 folks come out for some training and a canvass in the sweltering heat. I want to be sure and thank everyone for coming out and showing their support in some of the hottest weather to hit Sandy in a long time.

Did you miss out? Well, that’s OK, we have more canvasses coming up in both Sandy and Hood River! Please contact my campaign manager Logan at 503-901-4534 if you’d like to help out.

Sincerely,

Suzanne

What do you get when…

You combine 20+ dedicated young volunteers, the next State Representative from House District 52, and a beautiful day in Hood River?

Well, you might get nearly 900 doors knocked on in 3 precincts (including one previously deemed unwalkable). You might also get 50 fine people at the door signing up to help out during the campaign. And regardless of the numbers, you will get treated to 5 exciting hours with fantastic people.

On Saturday the 9th, we had the Politicorps fellows in Hood River and all of these things happened!

The excitement that has been building around Suzanne’s campaign for the State House for months is spilling over into the streets and through the phone lines! We have a number of canvasses and phone banks taking place in the coming months, starting with Phone banks on the 19th and 28th of August. So, if you’d like to help out by walking or calling in either Hood River or our new offices in Sandy, please give me a call at 503-901-4534 or email me at logan@votevanorman.com.

Thanks and I hope to see you on the campaign trail!

Best,

Logan

One Of Many

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

This Sunday was our first major house party and it was a great time!

I spoke about my campaign and my fight to focus on what really matters to families in our district and I received a lot of great feedback from House District 52 residents on what that will take.

But the evening wasn’t all about politics, it was about members of a community coming together. I want to thank Dennis Ghelfi and Diane Pettijohn for opening there home  to us, and to all the folks that came out in my support.

If you’d like to host a house Party, please email Logan and let him know when you would be available to host.

Sincerely,

Suzanne

A Fantastic Victory

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

I woke up May 21st to a bright new day in House District 52.

On Tuesday, May 20, my campaign for State Representative scored a resounding victory by receiving  over 81% in the Democratic Primary.  My total votes among Democrats exceeded the votes that both Republican candidates combined received in their Primary that day. I know we could never have done that without your help.

I’m incredibly excited about the coming weeks and months on the campaign trail. We have a number of exciting things in the works that I will be letting you all know about in due time.

In the meantime, there is much to do at Vote VanOrman HQ, and you can help! We are still looking for volunteers and are as always, thankful for your kind contributions.

Sincerely,

Suzanne
